[Contacts](https://support.ravencontrols.com/raven-academy/contacts?hsLang=en-gb) # Creating Contact Groups ## Contact Groups let you organise external contacts into named audiences so you can quickly notify the right people during an incident. --- Contact Groups make it easy to organise external contacts into meaningful groups, such as contractors, medical providers or transport partners. Instead of selecting individual contacts each time, you can send Mass Notifications to an entire Contact Group in one action. > **Note:** Contact Groups are an account feature. If you cannot see **Contact Groups** under **Contact Directory**, contact your Raven administrator to have the feature enabled and the appropriate permissions assigned. **How to Create a Contact Group** 1. Select **Contact Directory \> Contact Groups** from the left-hand menu. 2. Select **Create new**. 3. Under **Contact Group information**, enter a unique **Name** for the group. 4. In the **Contacts** field, select the contacts you want to include. Contacts are displayed as **Full Name (Organisation)**. 5. Select **Save** to create the Contact Group. **Understanding Reachability** As you add contacts, Raven shows how many members can currently receive Mass Notifications. For example: - **8 of 10 can receive** indicates that two contacts cannot currently receive notifications. - Amber warning messages explain why contacts are excluded, such as: - Mass Notifications being disabled for the contact. - A missing or invalid mobile number. You can still save the Contact Group. Once the affected contact records are updated, the recipient count will automatically refresh the next time you open the group. **How to Edit a Contact Group** 1. Open **Contact Directory \> Contact Groups**. 2. Select the Contact Group you want to edit. 3. Add or remove contacts from the **Contacts** field. 4. Select **Save** to apply your changes. Removing a contact only removes them from that Contact Group. Their contact record remains unchanged. **How to Archive a Contact Group** 1. Open the Contact Group. 2. Scroll to **Archive this group**. 3. Select **Archive group** and confirm. Archived Contact Groups cannot be restored and are no longer available when creating Mass Notifications. Previous notification history is retained. If the Contact Group is currently being used by an active Mass Notification, Raven prevents it from being archived until those notifications have expired or been manually expired. **Tip:** Create Contact Groups based on how you communicate during incidents rather than your organisational structure.
