Applying Event Markers
Event Markers define key milestones across a log timeline and control how operational activity progresses. They allow teams to schedule events at fixed times or relative to other markers, and use those milestones to trigger checklists, integrations, notifications, and reporting.
Set up Event Markers
- Go to Manage > Logs.
- Open the Manage Log Timings configuration tab at the top of the log list page.
- Create Event Marker names and define their order.
These markers act as a shared catalogue and can be reused across logs and templates. - Open the log or log template and add Event Markers by day (timings tab).
- For each marker, choose how it is scheduled:
- Fixed time
- Relative to another marker
- Select the progression mode:
- Automatic (default)
- Manual (requires user action to advance)
- If using Manual progression, grant the Update Log Current Event Marker permission to the required users or roles.
- Optionally configure the following:
- Notification groups for each marker
- Checklist triggers linked to markers
- Integration polling schedules linked to markers
- If using templates, save the configuration so Event Markers, progression mode, and notifications carry into new logs.
- For reporting, add Event Marker or Issues by Event Marker fields and filters to your report templates.
Understand progression behavior
Automatic progression
- The system advances Event Markers when their scheduled time is reached.
Manual progression
- Authorized users advance the current Event Marker from the Records or Home screen.
- A dropdown is available on each relevant log.
- Before confirming, users can review what will happen next, including:
- Checklist creation
- Integration polling changes
Track Event Marker activity
- Every Event Marker change creates a record entry.
- Changes appear in:
- Records and Home views
- Exports
- Mobile feeds
- Report data
- If notification groups are configured, notifications are sent when a marker is reached.
- If a marker is scheduled relative to another:
- Delays in earlier markers automatically shift dependent markers.
- Issues created during a marker are tagged with that Event Marker.
- This appears at the top of the issue alongside the creation date.
- Event Marker data can be included in reports when fields or filters are configured.
Key behavior
- Event Markers only move forward.
Once a marker is confirmed, it cannot be reverted. - New logs default to Automatic progression.
- Manual progression requires:
- Manual mode enabled on the log
- User permission to update the current Event Marker
